As you may already be aware there has been an increase in crime activity so we please ask if you are going away we strongly recommend you have a friend stay or a neighbour keep an eye on your property and report and suspicious activity. The police have provided us with a handy checklist to help ensure you keep your property as safe as possible which we have provided below.
While police are working hard to combat crime in Broome, there is a Broome Neighbourhood Watch Facebook group of determined community members who have teamed up to encourage others to play a part by getting to know your neighbours. They are trying to get the message out to as many people as possible with “Get to Know Your Neighbour Day”. Initiatives also include swapping phone numbers with your neighbours and handing out pamphlets to the left, right, across the road and behind the affected property when there has been an incident. By getting to know your neighbours, there’s a better chance for everyone to know what’s going on around them and keep tabs on any suspicious behaviour.
Please also join the various community crime watch pages on Facebook to keep up to date with what's happening around you.
