Daffodil Day is a special day in our events calendar and we’ve been proudly supporting it for over 15 years. It was originally an initiative of our First National network but our Agency decided to continue the tradition and make it a part of our annual calendar of fundraising events.
We are proud to say during this time we estimate our Agency has raised over $50,000.
Each year beautiful handmade paper daffodils are cut, glued and painted from the enthusiastic hands of Cable Beach Pre-Primary students with the support of one of the teachers Sandra Jefferys. Sandra is away on medical leave this year so sadly she was not able to be involved however for the first time we have children from Roebuck Primary School making our Daffodils who were delighted to be asked to be involved.
On Daffodil Day our fabulous staff sell fresh daffodils, Cancer Council merchandise and raffle tickets for a hamper which is generously donated by the Broome Florist. Our staff have a lot of fun being involved in this community event with many locals looking forward to the annual “plant” of paper daffodils on the large roundabout in the heart of Chinatown. The field of yellow daffodils remain there all day as a reminder to passing traffic that supporting Daffodil Day is a hope for a cancer free future and to remember lost loved ones.
