The Commonwealth Bank's leading economist believes Broome and the Kimbertey are ideally placed to reap the benefits of a sustained growth period that will put upwardpressure on house prices and increase rental demand.
The Broome Advertiser last month revealed residential rental vacancies had dipped below 2 per cent for the first time in five years.
Commsec chief economist Craig James said there were tremendous opportunities for an ecomomic swing in the region but they would have to embraced.
"The future does look bright for the Kimberley and there is potential in the area, although there are a number of challengers that would have to be overcome." he said. "There is a very diversified economy here, comprising resources, tourism, agriculture and service businesses associated with these industries. What needs to continue to happen is strong marketing, letting people know what a fantastic place this is across all sectors. You cannot just be satisfied that there is plenty here for people, you have to let them know as well."
