Staircase to the Moon Occurs each year from March through to October
This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide and creates a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon.
Broome Race Round – May – August Races are conducted over the months of June, July and August and are held at the Broome Racecourse, Gantheaume Point Road. Enjoy the races at one of the most unique race clubs in Australia with Ladies Day and the famous “Broome Cup” as the grand finale attracting punters from all over Australia.
Shinju Matsuri Every year Broome celebrates the “Festival of the Pearl” with 10 days of festivities that showcases Broome including traditional and contemporary arts, community and tourism events which celebrate and acknowledge the town’s unique culture, history and diversity. Shinju Matsuri encourages all cultural groups from the Broome community to participate in the celebrations to develop a constructive and harmonious Broome community. The date of this week-long festival varies each year as it is based upon the tides.
Opera Under the Stars Cable Beach amphitheatre – Broome This refreshingly unique event is sure to excite and entertain as you relax beneath a star filled Kimberley sky - in the middle of winter! - whilst being serenaded by the crème de la crème of Opera.
Mango Festival Every year in November (usually the last weekend) Broome celebrates the Mango Festival as a way to help promote Broome's mango industry. This delicious tropical fruit becomes the main ingredient for a variety of foods and cocktails to help raise funds for community services while encouraging a community spirit.
